Per noi le quarte ormai sono belle (fanno molto medioevo), ma così non era per il buon Kapsberger. Lui le considerava dissonanze senza appello e infatti come tali le tratta (da IV si arriva a V, a volte a VIb). Anche associare seste e terze è un po' arbitrario, perché per uno di inizio '600 erano due intervalli sì consonanti ma di grana molto differente (buonissime le terze - spesso addirittura pure - più dure le seste).
